Scored for viola and piano, “Two Nocturnes” offers two similar yet contrasting portraits of the night. Both erupt into thrilling sections of great motion and activity, but offer two very different journeys to and from them. As the night impedes vision, so too do these narratives, in a musical sense, but also offered are glimpses of light and clarity.
